{ROMANTIC}
{VINTAGE}
{PINK}
These are the words that were swirling around in my head as I planned ONE of my Valentine tables.
My inspiration was an old set of dishes--Duchess, by Paden City Pottery--that I'd had stored at my mom's for several years. These are beautiful dishes that we actually used as our everyday dishes for quite a while, when our boys were small, then I decided {gasp} that I would sell them at a garage sale. Alas, they didn't sell, so they stayed at my mom's until my heart called out to them to celebrate Valentine's Day.
I used our Lenox Eternal as a charger...creamy bone china that went perfectly with The Duchess. And our gold flatware~a gift from my precious grandmother (who also fed my early tableware addiction). The treats for the sweet in Depression glass Cherry Blossom, by Jeannette Glass Company-- a gift from my MIL years ago. I also used them for a tea party HERE. Waterford napkins, and pink linen tablecloth I've had for years. |
And speaking of being pretty... What shall we call her until we know her real pattern name? "Pretty" would work for me... |
Double the pleasure. |
Waterford Lismore pitcher |
Roses and crystal and candles and linens and china, oh my! |
Shopped the house and look what I found--a heart-shaped dish! Candy-covered pretzels from Krema--you can order the best candies and nuts from them HERE. |
Thanks for stopping by. Please leave me a comment to let me know you were here—I read every single one of them! Your comments encourage me and inspire me. And if you like what you see a lot J, maybe you’d like to +1 or "pin" this post too! Thank you!
I will be joining these fun parties; please stop by to see all the great things there!

Beautiful table. I enjoyed spending time looking at each element.
ReplyDeleteI just love this table! When I think of a girly table, this is the look that always come to my mind. It's light and delicate looking. I love the Duchess pattern and I'm glad they didn't sell at the garage sale. I've sold a few things over the years that make me want to kick myself now.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the way you do about vintage dishes. I wonder about their story. That's why I actually love the old better than the new.
I'm glad you shared about the bone dishes. I admit to being such a dork that I didn't know what they were for when I would see them in the vintage stores.
Just lovely!
Your dishes are so pretty. And the princess she is so cute and very pretty!!
ReplyDeleteKim,USA
What a lovely table. I too am addicted to "fantasy" tables using all the crystal I can gather. I am calling the pattern Pretty as well since I have these (a Christmas gift last year from Hubby) and cannot find anyone that knows the pattern. Really not important since I love them! Your Princess completes the beautiful table.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shanee, for your sweet comment about our princess. Nuts in love. :) I can't believe you have the same crystal pattern! I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find what it is; would love to know, but I'm glad we're going with "Pretty" for now. :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSuch a beautiful and elegant tablescape. Love all of your crystal and china. Stunning. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marty, for hosting! It's a fun party; I've visited lots of fun posts!
DeleteHow beautiful, I have enjoyed looking at everything!
ReplyDeleteI see why this beautiful table is your fantasy table. Aren't you glad "Duchess" refused to be sold and stayed with you all these years?
ReplyDeleteI AM so glad Duchess didn't want a new home! I actually like the pattern even more now than I did before! She must've known I'd grow into her! :) Things happen like that...
DeleteHow blessed you are. Duchess on the table and a Princess at the table.
ReplyDeleteNot only are you china and crystal beautiful Princess is adorable.
What fun.
Blessings, Ginger
How sweet of you, Ginger....Duchess and Princess at our table. Thank you.
DeleteI am so glad your china didn't sell - it is exquisite - LOVE the name! You've accessorized the table so well it is truly romantic and your dear little one a lovely princess!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great day,
Kathy
Thank you, Kathy, for your sweet comments and for visiting.
DeleteWhat a pretty table! And those bone plates are so gorgeous! What a nice collection. Linda
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thanks for visiting!
DeleteYour table setting is beautiful and so romantic Zuni...and your china,Oh! I'm in love with it!
ReplyDeleteAwww, how sweet that you like it so much! I love playing with all my "toys." :) Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comments!
DeleteJust BEAUTIFUL, Zuni! I loved seeing your beautiful granddaughter, in her tiara & pearls...too cute!
ReplyDeleteAren't you glad those gorgeous dishes DIDN'T sell?? I'm SO glad you saved them.
I can't help you with the stemware, although it looks a little like the Princess line from the 70's.
I have a few pieces of the Cherry Blossom, by Jeannette Glass & I cherish them. They were only used for birthday celebrations when I was growing up. I need to do another table with them soon. They'd be perfect for Valentines Day!
Beautiful Table!! I just love pretty plates such as yours! I have a small collection going that I hope to do a post about soon! P.S. Thank you for visiting me and for the very lovely comment! I just love reading what others have to say or think.
ReplyDeleteYour newest follower,
Stefani
Oh how lovely. Your dishes are so pretty and I love all the glass in the candlelight.
ReplyDeleteAaahhh...you must love crystal as much as I do, yes? I love china and silver, but crystal I think is my weakest spot. Did you happen to see my Three Kings post where I mentioned that I loved the glimmer of my Arby's "crystal"? Even that!! :)
DeleteThis is just so beautiful! What a goreous job you did at creating this stunning table! Thank you for joining TTF and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and giving us a way to share our creations, Diann.
DeleteThis tablescape is absolutely beautiful! The china is so lovely and I can't believe you ever thought of selling it. It's such a pretty pattern.
ReplyDeleteI know...I know...it was a point in my life when I was trying to simplify and clean things out, but thank heavens "she" didn't want to leave me. :) Funny how after all these years I started thinking about her again. Thanks for your sweet comments.
DeleteVery tastefully done! Loved the napkins especially. Fit for a princess and luckily you had one!
ReplyDeleteWe're VERY lucky to have this princess! :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHello Zuni,
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, let me begin by saying that I love chickadees too. We keep a feeder outside our front window year round so that I can watch them. They are so adorable! Your little chickadee sitting at the table is adorable too.
Now, on to your table. It is lovely! I love your china pattern and I do love vintage dishes! Duchess is a perfect name. I'm glad they didn't sell.
I'm so happy you stopped by and I'm following you now. Enjoy your weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hi, Sandy. The days have gotten away from me, but I wanted to respond to your sweet comments, especially about our chickadee. :) But I love all chickadees--I call them the clowns of the yard, because I've noticed they approach the tree or feeder at full speed then seem to try to slow down FAST! They're so cute. Thanks for visiting and for following!
DeleteThis is gorgeous! I love every detail.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for visiting and commenting! The construction set was a gift, so not sure where iti s from, but the company is called "Constructive Eating." Hope that helps!
Hi, Jenny. I'm happy to report that we now have the construction utensils!! Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction! They're great!
DeleteBeautiful and elegant table, Zuni. The china and glassware are gorgeous...so is your little princess!
ReplyDeleteAwww....thank you for commenting on the table AND our little princess!
DeleteJust gorgeous! The china is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi, Maria Elena. Nice to "meet" you. Thanks for stopping by. Please visit again soon.
DeleteZuni, if you so much as even LOOK LIKE you want to sell that china again, I will hop a plane and come there and beat you like Ringo Starr's drum kit!!!! :-) :-) :-) Girl, those are beautiful!!! BEAUTIFUL, I say!!!! Look at the salad plates! Where on earth would you find another set of dishes with such a uniquely shaped salad plate?!?! Look what a beautiful table you were able to create with them!!! And the pattern is so delicate and feminine and outwardly pretty...those things are gorgeous! Let's pretend you never mentioned that you tried to sell them IN A GARAGE SALE!!!!!!! :-) Oh, my goodness! My blood pressure is probably sky high right now. I'd better go take a pill! :-) Have a wonderful weekend, sweet Zuni!
ReplyDeleteAlycia - your comment was so funny I pulled it up on my phone to read it to some people!! I know...a weak life moment...but "she" didn't want to go; "she" knew better. I'd forgotten how beautiful those salad plates were, so it was sort of a Christmas morning feel when I saw "her" again. I promise to never do this to you again. :)
DeleteZuni, the words you first posted just resonate with me! To me, vintage MEANS love story! Something so cherished, it continues to grace the earth. Your china is so sweet and elegant, and so aptly named. Everything looks like it belongs together, even the vintage roses. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful table with us!
ReplyDeleteElaine
Hi, Elaine. How nice to hear from you again! I've missed you!! Thank you for your sweet comment. I think table settings are so personal, because even though we start with words, images, ideas, I at least don't really know where I'm headed, and the 'scape evolves. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBeautiful!! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and thanks for the party so we can share our creations.
DeleteI love your vintage dishes. The table is so pretty. Vintage is the absolute best. We've become such a throw away society and by using something old and cherished, we reverse that tide if only for a speck of time. Great able.. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteI agree, Marlis, that vintage/recycled is great. These old pieces have such character...I'm glad to know we share this appreciation for them. That's one of the many reasons I love blogging (I'm still pretty new at it)--to find others with like interests. I had started to think not many women were interested in all this. :)
DeleteBeautiful, romantic tablescape...and we are in complete agreement...family treasures are always the best. Replacement places can often help you identify crystal. They usually want to see the stem first, more than the bowl with the pattern. Evidently different crystal manufacturers used specific stem designs repeatedly. Thank you for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI KNOW you appreciate family pieces too, Cherry Kay. One of the reasons I love your posts. I've sent the pictures off to Replacements. thanks for the reminder.
DeleteWhat a beautiful Valentine's table! I can just imagine you pulling out all these dishes and remembering the stories they have to tell. I can almost see the smile on your face. It's so apparent that you love them! Your granddaughter is so beautiful! Everything is soft, and pretty and romantic. I have those top-down-bottom-up shades in my kitchen and dining room, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Zuni! I enjoyed reading your blog. Your Valentines Day tablescape is so beautiful and well placed. The photos display your pieces so well! I especially liked the one looking in from outside the window. Sunny
ReplyDeleteHi Zuni! Oh, your table is just so beautiful! Those are just gorgeous dishes and hold memories for you! Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Such a sweet description of all your treasures. I am such as advocate of using what you have and I also store stuff at my mum's much to her distaste.
ReplyDeleteThe love of your life looks very cute and isn't she lucky to have you to lend her pearls and heals.
Carolyn xx
Thanks so much for stopping by...blogging lets us find that others have the same habits, such as storing things at our moms' houses. Yes, that love of our life has our hearts all a-flutter. Thank you. :)
DeleteWhat a lovely post...I often wonder how people used dishes of mine that were "pre-owned" and hope they enjoyed them as much as I do. Your dishes are so beautiful! Love the delicate floral dishes. The whole is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tess. I love finding others with common interests and thoughts, so thanks for letting me know. With vintage pieces I also wonder why people got rid of them in the first place--like when the owners pass away and the next generation doesn't care about the family ties or memories, so I especially like to give them a "real" home where they'll be valued and enjoyed. :) Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and romantic. Love those bone plates. Great to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays.
