Versatile Blue and White, Part II

Late last summer (yes! almost a year ago!) I did a fancy table in our screened porch in blue and white HERE. I then changed only the napkins and the small centerpiece to see how very versatile (and lovely!) blue and white is—it stands on its own, or it’s a foundation for a shot of another color.

So here’s a glimpse of last year’s blue and white table, in the evening ~

I left all the crystal and silver elements, and the following morning did the switcheroo to red. I love red, white, and blue, which is usually a very casual/patriotic look, and I wanted to see a more formal table with the same colors ~

Then, the switch went to yellow, also a traditional combination, but again with all the same components.

What colors do you like to add to blue and white? I remember now that I did one with brown too, and probably others…

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ll leave me a comment to let me know you were here—I read every single one of them! And if you like what you see a lot, maybe you’d like to Google+ this post or pin it on Pinterest too! Thank you!

  2. Blue and white are timeless in their beauty as you have demonstrated so well. I use purple and mauve with blue and white. Especially flowers with those colors really go so well with blue and white.

  5. Zuni - I love seeing china patterns set with different elements to show its versatility and your post definitely "hits the mark". I love to use the color rose with blue and white china, in addition to the colors that you used. Such a smart and inspirational post!

  6. Zuni, I love the way you demonstrated the use of color in changing up a table. Color alone made an amazing difference. You know that my favorite combo is the blue and yellow. LOL!
I thought about you when I saw Phyllis's tablescape with the Chickadees. I think she was the first comment on this post. I know you will love it.

  13. Blue and white is timeless and always classy. I love to add a pop of yellow or orange but one of my favorite tables was using a Christmas plaid with my blue and white dishes. Thanks for sharing these elegant tables.

  20. I absolutely love blue and white together, too, and can't think of a single color that would NOT work w/ that classic color combo. I'm going to do a Blue/white table soon....timeless. Have you read/seen Carolyn Roehm's (sp?) book??? I'm your newest follower and so appreciate your comment on my blog!
    Love/hugs/blessings,

  21. Zuni, I love this table. Today, of course, I'm all about blue and yellow, so that's the one to which I was drawn at first. But then, I went back to the original post, and I fell in love with the simple blue and white. So, so beautiful! The vintage pressed glass dishes we so pretty and the blue embroidered napkins are to die for. I'm finding out that blue dishes are much more versatile than I thought. I wish I had thought to try different color napkins with my blue calico dishes. Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to try it again and again until I've used all the napkins in my collection. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

  23. Que hermosura de mesa! Yep! My fav combo is blue, White and yellow...can't miss out on this one, I totally love it, it's perfect and elegant!!! Than again your first table with the gorgeous embroidered napkins was gorgeous too! I am so excited cause I think I'm finally have my English blue and White transferware dishes collection for 12 place sets complete. Your dishes are stunning though and yes blue and White is so versatile, love it! Thank you sweet lady for your kind and generous comments on my table and daughter; who left today and I'm so depressed, she's so much fun to have around! Have a wonderful week.
