Irises—Urban Garden

A couple of years ago I did a post about the Urban Oasis I “found” when I went to get my hair done. I went at just the right time, and was able to capture the most amazing display of tulips in a small urban piece of land that doesn’t even belong to the gardener!

Here’s a glimpse of it ~ Urban Oasis Chickadee Home Nest

You can see the rest of the post here

But this gentleman doesn’t just do tulips…oh, no…He also has planted IRISES, and again, my timing was perfect. Although the tulips will bloom first (and they haven’t yet), since we’re all so anxious for spring I thought I’d share his gift to the world now, in anticipation of spring and the riot of color I hope to see again this year.

Irises, Chickadee Home Nest No narrative needed. I invite you to sit back and enjoy not only the simple beauty of this urban lot, but also the fact that a single man created it, for all to enjoy.

And finally, I leave you with this sweetness:

Irises, Chickadee Home Nest

Has spring arrived in your corner of the world? Or are you, like me, dreaming about it still? If you are, I hope these pictures will bring H O P E that yes, spring will come. (It was 18°here this morning, so H O P E is important!)

As we celebrate this joys season of Christ’s Resurrection, I wish you joy and peace.

  2. Zuni, what a gift indeed!! We have very few bulb plantings in our yard, but this makes me want to run out and plant this morning - too bad I have to wait, until fall. We have been having gorgeous weather down here in the south. However, we broke a record in my city this morning. It was 30 degrees!!!

  3. I remember that discovery post! The purple irises are my favorite, especially the dark ones. So regal! We had a hard freeze the past two nights, but this week is going to be gorgeous. About a dozen tulips are open with hundreds more to follow. So happy to see Spring!

  5. Zuni, those irises are spectacular, and I'm not usually an iris lover, but these are so well-cared for, and the color is so gorgeous, well, I guess I'd be a fool not to be impressed. This week is promising to be a bit warmer, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the worst of winter is behind us. You are right, we must have hope!

  7. Such lovely and deep color irises and you took such amazing photographs too, dear Zuni. An oasis for sure. I bet you felt like Alice in Wonderland when you discovered this beautiful garden, impeccably taken care of! I love to do this too. I take walks around the neighborhood each morning and sometimes I just stop and gaze at some lovely gardens and flowers I see around it.
Have a great week and a blessed Easter ahead, querida amiga.

  8. Beautiful Zuni! My Iris will bloom in May. I always think of my sweet Mother because they were one of her favorite flowers. Some of my starts are from her. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
