This Kneeling Santa is one of my favorite pieces, and maybe my most treasured Christmas decoration--Santa/commercialism bowing to Baby Jesus. I love the reverence--he's kneeling, and his hat is off--and the acknowledgement that Christmas is not about Santa, but about God's gift to mankind.
This mother-of-pearl nativity scene is right up there as a favorite treasure... My grandmother brought it back from the Holy Land in the late 1970s. |
And my {real} feather trees... They are made from goose feathers! "The tradition of feather trees began in Germany in the mid-19th century, when the cutting-down of trees was banned to save German woodlands. German immigrants brought feather trees with them when they sailed to the New World. Their popularity increased when President Theodore Roosevelt also responded to the diminishing supply of fresh evergreens in America by ordering that no live trees be used in the White House holiday decorations." (From http://www.feathertreekits.com/history.htm) |
No mantel can hold all these stockings! Many are handmade; our sons' are the original ones they've had since their first Christmases. |
A Christmas-y kitchen corner. Both snowmen are gifts from my boys... and the dish on the back splash--disguising an outlet (do you dislike outlets as much as I do?)--is also a gift from one of them. |
I wish you all a very happy and blessed Christmas. Thanks for stopping by. Please leave me a comment to let me know you were here—I read every single one of them! They encourage me and inspire me. And if you like what you see a lot J, maybe you’d like to +1 this post too! Thank you!
I will be joining these fun parties; please stop by to see all the great things there!

ReplyDeleteI love to create Christmas vignettes too! Yours are so pretty. Love the mosaic pic too, I don't know how to do that! XO, Pinky What does +1 mean????
ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful! You have some special pieces! I chuckled about not liking outlets. I was just saying that yesterday! I am your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Your stockings are so cute too. Thanks for sharing with the newbie party.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Zuni! I love that statue of Santa and Baby Jesus. All your vignettes are lovely. Yes, I hate looking at outlets, too. I put a large tray against my backsplash near one to hide it and I have a snowman figure in front of another.
ReplyDeleteYour vignettes are so pretty. I love the stockings going up the banister. Also your rosemary plant and your kitchen vignette. Cute.
ReplyDeleteYou have some special collectables. I like the nativity scene alot. Lovely decorations. Happy Holidays! Pat

ReplyDeleteZuni, I love all your decorations. Everything looks so festive. Going to be a lot of stocking stuffing at your house Christmas Eve.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
ReplyDeleteAll of your Christmas decorations are beautiful! What a great idea to hang all the stockings on the stairs! Your kneeling Santa is wonderful! You asked what my Santa is made of, I think it's bisque.
I look forward to following your blog!
Smiles,
Carol
The kneeling Santa is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are all ready for the big day!
I've enjoyed browsing your blog looking at your Christmas decor! All very pretty! I'm glad you found the chickadee dishes too!

Santa bowing in deference to the baby Jesus...I LOVE it! Whoever thought that up should get a big ol' prize! You have such pretty vignettes set up all around your beautiful home! (Yes, I was checking out your house in the photos! I have been considering getting some of those shades that go from bottom to top for our kitchen like you have in yours. We could get so much more sunshine in without compromising privacy.) I LOVE the idea of hanging all the stockings up the stairwell! What a great idea! I will have to borrow that for next year! We usually just hang the one stocking (we share one...just like we share pretty much everything else!), but it would be fun to put one up with each kid's name on it. Those ornaments from 1946 are very precious cargo. It's wonderful that you have been entrusted with their care. It goes without question that you cherish them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the season and your lovely home at Potpourri Friday! May you have a Merry Christmas and the Happiest of Holidays!
ReplyDeleteEverything is gorgeous!! I'm crazy about all of the ornaments and Christmas tree ideas you shared...I wouldn't be able to take those down in January!
